Anyone buying a residential property in the UK over a specific value (£125,000 for first home and £40,00 for additional homes as at May 2019) must pay Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT). In addition, since 1st April 2016, borrowers who wanted to purchase more than one home, have had to pay an additional 3% surcharge.
