As you may know already, Houses in Multiple Occupation (also referred to as Houses of Multiple Occupancy) have come under the spotlight in recent years as local authorities seek to regulate them more strictly.  If you are letting your property to 3 or more tenants who form 2 or more households’ and the property contains a communal kitchen and bathroom, it’s possible that you may need to apply for an HMO license from your local authority.  Furthermore, as each lender has their own definition of HMO, they will also have different mortgage requirements.
